Lesson 5
Glycogen and Fat: Two Energy Stores
Explain how a small, quick glycogen store and a large, dense fat store keep you supplied between meals and overnight.
Something feeds you overnight
You eat dinner at seven and nothing again until breakfast. For twelve hours no food arrives, yet your brain keeps using glucose all night and your blood glucose barely moves.
Something is feeding it. Your body keeps two energy stores for the gaps between meals: a small, quick one and a large, dense one. This lesson is about how each works and why you need both.
