So far, we've discussed reinforcing loops, balancing loops, and delays using words. But words are imprecise — they hide ambiguity and let us skip over gaps in our logic.
A causal loop diagram (CLD) forces precision. It makes your mental model visible, testable, and shareable.
A CLD is not a flowchart. Flowcharts show sequences — step 1, then step 2. A CLD shows causal influence — 'as A changes, B changes.' The arrows don't represent time order; they represent structural relationships that operate continuously.
