Breathing, cooking, washing and drying clothes add water vapour to indoor air. The amount varies with people, activities and conditions; a fixed daily household total cannot diagnose a damp room.
A home also needs enough planned ventilation to manage moisture and other pollutants. Older homes can have damp problems too. Airtightness improvements need a suitable ventilation design; uncontrolled draughts are not a reliable substitute.
