Lead can be present in old paint beneath newer layers. Dust, fragments and fume can expose people during preparation; a fresh topcoat or household swab is not a clearance certificate for every underlying layer.
Avoid disturbing suspect material and obtain competent advice about its assessment and treatment. This beginner project excludes lead-paint removal, heating old coatings and extensive stripping.
Professional guidance includes several controls working together. A heat-gun setting below a named temperature is not enough to make a removal method safe for an untrained person.
