A coating defect can have several contributors. Peeling, bubbles, uneven sheen or marks tell you what happened at the surface; they rarely identify a complete cause by themselves.

Record the product, substrate, preparation, application time, conditions and pattern. Compare the record with the instructions. Do not blame the learner or the paint before considering the evidence.
