Sheen describes how shiny a finish appears. More reflective finishes can make surface variations more noticeable; matt finishes can make them less prominent. Lighting and the actual surface still matter.

Sheen is not a complete durability or washability rating. A formulated washable matt may suit a busy wall; a particular satin may have different limitations. Compare intended surfaces, cleaning instructions and relevant performance evidence.
