When you sign up for internet, the provider sends you a plastic box with flashing lights. We usually call it 'the Wi-Fi' or 'the router', but those names are only partially correct.

To troubleshoot internet problems, we first need to understand that this box is actually performing three entirely different jobs at the same time: a Modem, a Router, and an Access Point.
