A spare key is useful only if you can reach it when the main key is missing. Account recovery has the same dependency problem: a phone may hold your sign-in approval, your authenticator and access to the inbox needed to restore them.

Before changing security settings, check the provider’s recovery options and what each requires. Keep a working signed-in device available while you prepare another supported route. Losing a phone does not always mean losing the account; a saved code does not guarantee recovery either.
